Faithful God,
You guide us on the path of life
and your goodness is our constant companion.
Be with our new Shepherd, Pope Leo XIV,
in his service of the Church.
Fill him with the power of your Spirit,
the peace of your presence
and the compassion of Christ.
May he walk with you,
in wisdom and humility,
and lead us, together with all God’s people,
to embody your love for the world.
Amen.
Mothers' Day Celebrations
Last Friday was a wonderful celebration of our mums, as we held a Mothers’ Day Breakfast and Gift Stall at school. My thanks to the Community Council for their great work and support of our school community. My thanks as well to Julia Norgrove, our Youth Ministry Officer, and Andrea McQuirk, our REC, for helping to organise and coordinate an assembly celebrating Mothers’ Day. I hope all of our mums had a wonderful day on Sunday.

Early Career Teachers' Induction
Last week, our Early Career Teacher, Sarah Cunneen, was inducted into CECG at a special Mass at St Christopher's Cathedral in Manuka. We are so lucky to have Sarah here at Sts P&P, her knowledge, enthusiam and sensible approach is a real asset to our community.
Student Representative Council
Yesterday, the first meeting of the year took place with our Student Representative Council (SRC), which is made up of students from Grades 3 – 6. All the student representatives were voted in by their peers. The SRC is an important avenue to allow for student voice. Yesterday, they discussed ways they can support the school’s School Wide Positive Behavior Program (SWPB). My thanks to Bridget Pigram and Sarah Walsh for their support of the students.
School Rostrum Finals
Next Monday, Year 6 students will participate in the School Rostrum Finals. Rostrum is a public speaking competition. It asks all students to write and present a 3-minute speech on a particular topic. From the school finals, a winner and runner-up will be chosen. The winner will represent our school in the regional finals, with the runner-up taking the winner’s place in the event of illness. I wish all of our School Finals speakers the very best.
Literacy Activities – Week 4
In Week 4, we have a number of literacy activities taking place. Aside from the School Finals of the Rostrum Public Speaking competition, our Book Fair also begins, on Tuesday afternoon next week. My thanks to Amanda de Jongh for her excellent work in coordinating the fair. Week 4 also sees our Community Languages Day. A number of parents who speak a language other than English at home are coming in to read to the children, in their mother tongue. This is a wonderful celebration of diversity and inclusion, and a celebration of literacy in all of its language forms. Again, my thanks to Amanda for making this possible, and to our wonderful parents for being so generous with their time.
Treetops
Friday week sees our Year 6 students continue their leadership program, with a visit to Treetops. This program provides the children with both a great deal of fun as well as developing their resilience and grit, and teamwork – all essential qualities in life.
Have a wonderful week with your families.
Best wishes
Cameron Johns
Principal

Third Sunday of Easter John 13:31-35
Today’s three scripture readings show us different faces of Christian faith. The Acts of the Apostles tells of Paul and Barnabus returning home to Antioch after completing their first missionary journey around south east Asia Minor (present day Turkey). The Christians in Antioch rejoice, hearing about all the wonderful things God has done through this missionary work.
In the Book of Apocalypse we see a symbolic vision of what Christian life hopes for: union with God, in peace, where there will be no more tears and pain, and death will have vanished.
The Gospel reading shows us a crucial moment when the vision of salvation was being worked out in the life of Jesus. The passage opens with the words, ‘When he had gone out’. Who is this ‘he’? It is Judas Incariot. Just before this, the Gospel has shown us that Jesus knows Judas is going to betray him and that it is night, the time when darkness triumphs. Against this wretchedness. Jesus speaks in an extraordinary way. First, he declares that in this very betrayal, God is glorifying him. Second, he chooses this moment to command his disciples to love one another in the way Jesus has loved them.

SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR
School-Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPB)
At Saints Peter and Paul our students are supported by a School- Wide Positive Behaviour framework that was developed by our school community to develop a positive, safe, and supportive learning culture.
The framework improves the social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for our students.
Our three expectations, Succeeding Together Safely underpin everything we do here at Sts Peter and Paul Primary School.
Our goal for Weeks 3 and 4 is
Learning and Doing Your Best
Study Well: Find a quiet place and take your time to learn.
Microskill- Make sure your desk is neat and free of clutter, with only the materials you need (like books, pencils, and paper) in reach.
Now that we are in Term 2, students are required to wear their WINTER uniform.
Please help us ensure that the correct uniform is worn.
If there is a valid reason why your child is not in the correct clothing, please email the classroom teacher.
Don't forget that our Uniform Shop also stocks second hand uniforms if needed.

Colour Run - the prizes are here!
We are very excited to announce that we have received the prizes from Australian Fundraising (several large boxes!).
We are busily sorting and packing the prizes and they will be distributed to students this Friday, 16 May (at home time).
Please note that only students who were registered on the Colour Run website, and raised $10 or more, became eligible to choose a prize (at the end of Term 1).
There were many students who registered on the website, and raised $10 or more, but then did not log back in and choose a prize before the deadline. For these students, prizes were chosen for them, to avoid any disappointment.
Thank you to all for making Sts Peter & Paul inaugural Colour Run a resounding success!!!
LOST PROPERTY AND JUMPER WASHING
OUR LOST PROPERTY CUPBOARD IS OVERFLOWING!
A WORD FROM OUR SCHOOL LEADERS
Hello
Today as your Year 6 leaders, we will be informing you about a fun project we have taken part in. On Monday Mrs Mance and our other lovely staff, granted us an opportunity to create road safety posters that benefit our community. Students like us had the privilege to come up with some catchy slogans that help you to stay safer on our roads, as well as some creative drawings that help catch the eye of a driver. These posters are not only for the driver’s safety but also a fun way to communicate road safety at our school with younger children. We hope that these posters will encourage you to continue driving safely.
By Kiera and Chiara
Here are some examples of the student's work
Please note: The school was awarded an ACT Road Safety Fund Grant to create promotional material to improve road safety practices in the car park, drop off and pick zones and the roads around the school.
Anne Perkovic
Promotions Officer
We were very busy in the kitchen and garden last week .
Year 1 and Kinder continued to learn new skills in the kitchen and refresh old ones. There were smiles on every face!
In the garden we harvested, planted, and even found some more potatoes.
The broad bean garden bed was weeded so we can plant more this week. Our pumpkins also look a treat.
We will have a garden stall outside the hall next Thursday before our Growth Assembly.
Garden Club is open to anyone who would like to come on a Fridy after eating time at lunch.
Students will hear a message from me at morning assembly on Friday.
Please email katherine.birch@cg.catholic.edu.au for more information.
